Edward Weiner & Edward Yarock Equine Scholarship Fund

Donald Meyer Memorial Scholarship Fund

Bio

Donald Meyer was born in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, in 1922. He attended the University of Pennsylvania and graduated from the Wharton School as a CPA. His first job was for Arthur Anderson in Louisville, Kentucky. Needless to say, he went to The Kentucky Derby. In time, he became a partner in New Amsterdam Truck Leasing which eventually was sold to Ryder.

He has been honored for philanthropic leadership many times by Federation of Jewish Philanthropies, United Jewish Appeal, and The Car & Truck Leasing Association.

He died June 1, 2009.

Letter from the Founder

After a long and valiant struggle, my husband, Donald Meyer, passed away on June 1, 2009. A small, private service was held at that time with the thought of having a memorial service at a later date. During the last few weeks, I've been giving a lot of thought to what Donald would have wanted and how to best honor his life. Donald loved helping people and taking care of things. "I'll do it" was a much used phrase. He also loved the excitement of the track and once owned a horse called "Pour Me a Drink." I can feel his pleasure as I write to tell you that we are creating a scholarship fund to assist students in pursuing their educations.

This fund will be called the Donald Meyer Memorial Scholarship Fund. The applicants are selected on the basis of academic merit, need, and extra curricular activities. There is a formal application which can be downloaded from this web site in the section, "Download Applications."

This scholarship fund will be administered by the Edward Weiner & Edward Yarock Equine Scholarship Fund, which is a 501(C)3 organization. My son-in-law, David Yarock, is the Founder and President of this organization and oversees the application process.

I thank you for your generosity in helping to assure the productivity of future generations.

Sincerely,

Pauline Meyer
